Well, there are a few differences, and yes!
A deployant clasp instead of a standard buckle will extend the life of your watch band. You feed the long end of the strap in the clasp to your desired adjustment hole and keep it there, eliminating that pull on the buckle each time. Plus, a clasp can be used on multiple straps and it's pretty easy to do; it attaches with a spring pin like your strap does to your watch.
Our favorite and best selling clasp is our own Push Button Deployant Clasp. This is what's known as a double fold or butterfly style and is available with most all of our watch bands as an add on option. These are selectively sourced, beautifully finished, heavyweight 316L stainless steel clasps made right. We check each one prior to shipping to ensure proper working condition and attach it to your strap so it's ready to wear.
We also offer the Hirsch Single Fold Deployant Clasp; a high quality clasp made with heavyweight 316L stainless steel and finished with the signature Hirsch "H" logo. It's a pressure held clasp that has only one folding point and "snaps" into place. To unlock, pull firmly from connection point. This clasp is only offered in select sizes so it is only available through the direct product page. To order with your strap, select the buckle size of the strap for your clasp size and we will attach it for you.
These can sometimes be a little loose, we strive to check each one prior to shipping, however if you do receive one that does not connect tightly, please contact us immediately for a replacement.
Lastly, we offer the Hirsch Pusher Deployant Clasp.
