HOW TO CHANGE A WATCH STRAP

Swapping out your watch strap is one of the easiest ways to refresh the look of your watch—and you can do it yourself in just a few minutes.

In the video below provided by Hirsch, you’ll see how to remove your existing strap and install a new one using a standard spring bar tool.
*Step by step instructions included below video.

What You’ll Need

  • A spring bar tool (or small flat tool)
  • A clean, flat surface
  • Your new strap

Step-by-Step Overview

1. Turn your watch face down
Place it on a soft cloth to avoid scratching the case or crystal.

2. Locate the spring bars
These are the small metal pins that hold your strap in place between the lugs.

3. Remove the old strap
Use the forked end of your tool to gently compress the spring bar inward.
Once compressed, the strap will release from the lug.

4. Insert the new strap
Slide one end of the spring bar into the lug hole.
Then compress the other side and guide it into place.

5. Make sure it clicks securely
Give the strap a light tug to confirm it’s properly seated.

A Few Quick Tips

  • Work slowly—this isn’t a race
  • Use light pressure to avoid scratching the case
  • If your strap has quick-release pins, no tool is needed
  • When in doubt, stop and reposition rather than forcing anything
